Hemanth, a mechanical engineer from Konaseema district, will always remember his first Sankranti celebration at his in-laws’ house. Recently married and now living in Germany, he thought it would be a simple event. Instead, he was amazed by a huge feast that included 666 different types of food from all over India, especially prepared for him.

The meal had many tasty dishes, including vegetarian and non-vegetarian pickles, curries, dry fruits, traditional Konaseema treats, fruits, ice creams, soft drinks, and herbal drinks. They even included sugarcane! The feast also had special prasadams, which are offerings from famous temples like Tirupati, Srisailam, and the Kanaka Durga temple in Vijayawada.

This grand dinner was planned by Hemanth’s father-in-law, Janga Bujji. He joined forces with 40 cooks and family members to prepare all the food from 3 AM until noon. Janga wanted to create a special and unforgettable experience for his son-in-law. “I first thought about making 365 dishes to symbolize each day of the year. But then I decided on 666, because it is an auspicious number,” he explained.

Hemanth felt deeply moved by all the love and effort that went into the celebration, and he couldn’t help but cry tears of joy.
