The Directorate of Education in Delhi has told all schools to start “hybrid classes” for students in Classes 9 and 11. This means classes will be taught both in-person and online. This decision comes after the recent air quality restrictions were put in place by the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM).
The rules apply to all types of schools in Delhi: government schools, aided schools, private schools, and schools run by various local authorities. According to a note from the Directorate of Education, these hybrid classes should start immediately and will continue until further notice.
The CAQM is applying strict actions to improve the air quality in Delhi, which is currently facing a “Severe” level of pollution. All agencies involved will watch closely and ensure everyone follows the new rules to keep air pollution levels from getting worse.
During this stage of restrictions, all schools are required to offer hybrid classes, but students in 10th and 12th grades can still attend school in person. Additionally, non-essential diesel trucks are not allowed to enter Delhi to reduce pollution.
