New Delhi: The third Kashi Tamil Sangamam (KTS 3.0) will start on February 15 in Varanasi, Ayodhya, and Prayagraj. This event celebrates Tamil culture, the Siddha system of medicine, and Tamil literature. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan made this announcement on Wednesday.

“KTS 3.0 will strengthen the connection between Tamil Nadu and Varanasi and help young people learn about their culture, promoting the idea of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (One India, Great India),” Pradhan said while launching the registration site — kashitamil.iitm.ac.in — for this 10-day event.

Around 1,000 participants, including students, teachers, farmers, artists, businesspeople, women, and researchers from Tamil Nadu, will gather. Specifically, 200 students studying in different states will join as well. IIT Madras is organizing KTS 3.0, and registration is open until February 1. All participants will take a quiz in Tamil on February 2 to qualify. The final list of delegates will be released on February 5. Banaras Hindu University (BHU) will host the event.

This year’s Sangamam is special because it coincides with the Maha Kumbh festival in Prayagraj, where attendees will spend one night. It will also be the first KTS after the ‘pran pratishtha’ ceremony at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

Visitors will explore important sites, including poet Subramania Bharati’s ancestral home, Kedar Ghat, Kasi Mandapam, and the Tamil department at BHU for learning and sharing ideas.

KTS 3.0 will also have exhibitions celebrating Sage Agastya, highlighting his contributions to health, science, and Tamil heritage. Various seminars and workshops focusing on Agastya’s legacy will be held.

The first two editions of KTS were opened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and we hope he will inaugurate KTS 3.0 as well, Pradhan added.
