External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar is going to Spain for a two-day visit starting Monday. This visit comes about two and a half months after Spanish President Pedro Sanchez visited India.

During his trip, Jaishankar will talk with Spanish leaders and his counterpart, Foreign Minister Manuel Albares. They will discuss the strong ties between India and Spain and also talk about important global issues. This is Jaishankar’s first time visiting Spain in his current role.

One of the highlights of his visit is that he will speak at the 9th Annual Conference of Spanish Ambassadors and meet members of the Indian community living in Spain.

Earlier, in October, President Sanchez visited India where he and Prime Minister Narendra Modi opened a new factory for C-295 military transport aircraft. In their discussions, they agreed to work more closely in areas like defense and security. They also emphasized the importance of the EU-India Connectivity Partnership and the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEEC) Project, which will help improve connections between the regions. Jaishankar and Albares are expected to review the progress on the agreements made during the Modi-Sanchez meeting.
