Donald Trump really likes the British royals, and he’s even invited them to his inauguration on January 20 in Washington, D.C. Royal expert Neil Sean mentioned that Prince William, Kate Middleton, King Charles, and Queen Camilla have all received invitations. This comes after a friendly meeting between Trump and Prince William at the Notre Dame Cathedral’s reopening.
However, not everyone thinks the royals will show up. Brittani Berger, another royal expert, pointed out that just receiving an invitation doesn’t mean they must attend. She explained that the royals usually stay neutral about politics and have busy schedules filled with other events. She would be surprised if they went to Trump’s inauguration, especially since the recent election was so divisive.
While the British royals might stay away, there could be some Serbian royalty showing up. Brittani Berger mentioned that the Crown Prince Couple of Serbia might attend, and they have a friendly relationship with the Trumps.
Earlier this week, Prince Edward, the Duke of Edinburgh, attended the funeral of former U.S. President Jimmy Carter in Washington, D.C., sitting next to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Recent reports suggest Trump will be the first elected U.S. president to host the British royals for state visits twice once he’s back in the White House. However, the meeting between King Charles and Trump probably won’t happen until 2026.
