Union Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya announced that people covered by the Employee State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) will soon get free medical care at private hospitals included in the Ayushman Bharat scheme. This plan aims to improve social security for everyone, especially middle-class families.
Currently, the ESIC helps around 3.77 crore families, which is about 18 crore people, by providing free medical treatment at 165 hospitals and over 1,500 clinics across the nation. They also receive care at about 2,000 other hospitals. Mandaviya made this announcement while opening a new 220-bed ESIC hospital in Ranchi’s Namkum, which will assist roughly three lakh insured individuals and their families.
He highlighted that over 60 crore people now have health security under the Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY). The new hospital in Ranchi, built at a cost of about Rs 100 crore, covers an area of 17,559 square meters with multiple floors on a spacious campus.
This modern hospital will greatly enhance healthcare services for workers and their families in Ranchi and nearby areas. During this event, Mandaviya also recognized ESI beneficiaries and honored workers who helped construct the hospital. Originally opened in 1987, the ESIC hospital in Namkum has been a crucial healthcare provider for many years, and the upgrades will now allow it to offer specialty and super-specialty treatments.
