Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently recorded his first podcast on YouTube with Nikhil Kamath, the co-founder of Zerodha, on a channel called ‘People By WTF.’ In this friendly chat, PM Modi shared personal stories, talked about the ups and downs of public life, and even answered some questions from children.
One funny moment was when Modi remembered kids asking him how it feels to see himself on TV or how he deals with constant criticism. He told a story from Ahmedabad about a scooter rider who stayed calm even when someone yelled insults at him. When asked why he didn’t react, the rider simply said, “He’s just passing insults, not taking anything away.” Modi used this story to explain that while people might criticize you, what truly matters is staying true to yourself and having a clear conscience.
The podcast also touched on the challenges of public life. Modi said that it’s normal to disagree with others in any situation, whether in families, workplaces, or politics. He highlighted the need for empathy in public service, mentioning that it’s essential to care for others’ needs.
In the podcast, Modi shared his life’s motto: he promised never to do anything wrong with bad intentions. He said everyone makes mistakes, but those mistakes should not be made with bad intentions. “When I became the chief minister, I said I would work hard and never do anything for selfish reasons. I’m just a human, not a god,” he explained.
He also spoke about the difference between idealism and ideology, noting that while ideology is important in politics, having good ideals is even more important. He mentioned how Mahatma Gandhi and Vinayak Damodar Savarkar had different ideas, but they both wanted freedom for the nation. For Modi, his first priority has always been the country.
