A day before summer vacation was supposed to start, the Higher Education department of Tripura announced that all degree, professional colleges, and technical institutes will not have a summer break this year. The vacation was originally planned from May 9 to June 3, 2025, lasting 26 days.
According to a letter signed by Animesh Debbarma, the director of Higher Education, this decision is made to ensure that semester exams, the admission process, and classes can all take place during this time. The letter also mentioned that this change will only be for this academic year.
Since colleges will remain open for classes during the summer break, teachers will receive 26 days of earned leave. Last year, the state government also canceled the summer vacation for colleges for the same reasons, allowing more time to complete the syllabus before exams.
