Tragedy Strikes: M.F. Kapil’s Death During Kantara Filming Explained

The makers of the movie Kantara: Chapter 1, which stars Rishab Shetty, have spoken about a sad event where a 33-year-old junior artist named M.F. Kapil drowned while swimming in a river during the film’s shoot. The film’s team wants to make it clear that this incident did not take place on the film set, and no filming was happening that day.

In a statement shared by Hombale Films, the producers expressed their sadness over Kapil’s sudden passing and offered their condolences to his family and friends. They explained that the accident occurred while Kapil was engaged in personal activities, not during any filming for Kantara. They asked people not to connect the tragic incident with the film or its crew without having all the facts.

The statement also conveyed their heartfelt sympathy to Kapil’s family, wishing them strength and peace during this tough time.

Meanwhile, the All India Cine Workers Association (AICWA) reacted strongly to the loss of the junior artist. They have called for a police report against Rishab Shetty and the production company, expressing concern over workplace safety. AICWA stated that when a film worker dies on set, the true reasons are often hidden, and they demanded that such incidents should not be ignored anymore.

Kantara: Chapter 1 is a prequel to the successful movie Kantara, which came out in 2022. The sequel is set to be released on October 2 this year.
