Ranthambore & Sariska: New Safety Rules for Temple Visits After Tiger Attack

In Jaipur, Rajasthan, forest authorities at the Ranthambore and Sariska Tiger Reserves are no longer allowing private cars to enter the parks to visit temples. This decision comes after a sad incident where a 7-year-old boy from Lakheri village was attacked by a tiger while leaving the Trinetra Ganesh temple with his family on April 16.

To keep everyone safe, only special buses approved by the forest department and state transport will be allowed to take visitors to the temple. “We’ve seen a lot more people visiting the temple, so we needed to make changes to ensure safety for everyone,” said Sangram Singh Katiyar, the conservator of forest and field director for Sariska Tiger Reserve.

Visitors will now park their cars at the Sherpur Tri-junction and will need to take local taxis to reach the temple. This will not only keep people safe but also help local businesses. Only vehicles bearing the RJ25 state code can go into the forest area in Sawai Madhopur district.

In addition to this, Sariska Tiger Reserve has decided not to let private cars drive up to the Pandupol temple, especially on busy days like Tuesdays, Saturdays, and full moon nights. They want to keep everyone safe while also ensuring that the beauty of the tiger reserves is protected.
