Warriors Win Game 1 Against Timberwolves; Curry Injured, Hield Excels

The Golden State Warriors defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 99-88 in the first game of the Western Conference semifinals. The Warriors faced a tough challenge after losing their star player, Stephen Curry, who had already scored 13 points when he hurt his hamstring and had to leave the game. He is likely to miss Game 2.

Buddy Hield stepped up in Curry’s absence, leading the Warriors with 24 points and eight rebounds, making five three-point shots! He made history by becoming the third player ever to have two playoff games in a row with at least 20 points, five three-pointers, and no turnovers.

Draymond Green also played well, scoring 18 points, grabbing eight rebounds, and giving six assists. For the Timberwolves, Jimmy Butler got 20 points, 11 rebounds, and eight assists. The Warriors used a solid zone defense that made it hard for Minnesota to score. The Timberwolves struggled to shoot well, hitting only 5 of 29 shots from three-point range and turning the ball over 16 times.

Anthony Edwards was the top scorer for Minnesota with 23 points and 14 rebounds, but he had a tough night shooting, making just 9 of 22 shots. Naz Reid helped with 19 points, and Julius Randle added 16. The Timberwolves missed their first 16 three-point shots and didn’t make one until the third quarter.

The Timberwolves looked strong when they won against the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round, but they struggled in this game. Fans are upset with Anthony Edwards, as he only scored one point in the first half and went 4-of-15 shooting through three quarters.

Game 2 of the series is set for Thursday at the Target Center in Minneapolis. The Warriors want to keep their winning streak, while the Timberwolves hope to bounce back and tie the series.
