In a bold move, India started “Operation Sindoor” to hit terror groups in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). On Wednesday night, the Indian Air Force carried out airstrikes on nine locations linked to banned groups like Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), and Hizbul Mujahideen.
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar said after the strikes, “The world must be tough on terrorism.” Among the main targets were places connected to JeM, including the Markaz Subhan Allah in Bahawalpur and the Syedna Bilal camp in Muzaffarabad.
This operation was in response to a recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, that resulted in the deaths of 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen, with more injured. The Ministry of Defence of India stated, “We launched ‘Operation Sindoor’ to hit terrorist bases that plan attacks against India.”
They emphasized that the strikes were smart and careful. They did not aim at any Pakistani military facilities. India has been careful in choosing the targets and how they executed the operation.
