India is getting ready for emergencies! On Wednesday, the country held full-scale civil defense practice drills because of increasing tensions with Pakistan. Many cities went dark to simulate blackout situations. These exercises, which included testing blackout scenarios, help check how prepared India is to respond in emergencies.
Important places in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Patna, and Surat experienced brief blackouts as part of these drills. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) urged all states and union territories to carry out these drills to prepare against new threats. The drills included practicing blackouts, using air raid sirens, evacuating people, and public training for potential emergencies.
The drills were widespread, covering major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Gwalior, Patna, and Jaipur. For instance, Patna saw blackouts in important areas like the Governor’s residence and the Chief Minister’s home. Surat in Gujarat also practiced crash blackouts.
In Delhi, a thorough drill occurred at the New Delhi Municipal Council Office and in busy places like Khan Market. In Mumbai’s Cross Maidan, emergency protocols were tested, while Pune held a Civil Defence Mock Drill at the Council Hall. Sirens even went off in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, to warn the public for the exercise.
In Bengaluru, drills were held at Halsuru Lake, and in Jaipur, officers worked on MI Road to prepare for any dangers. Meanwhile, Indian Armed Forces also launched significant military actions against nine terror camps in Pakistan, known as Operation Sindoor. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri shared news on this operation, mentioning that Indian intelligence is keeping a close watch on terrorist activities, which raises alerts about potential attacks on India.
