Tony believes Sonu’s contributions to music and his kindness are being overlooked.
What Happened with Sonu Nigam
During a live concert on April 25 in Bengaluru, Sonu paused after someone yelled for him to sing in Kannada. Frustrated, he responded sharply, linking it to a recent incident in Pahalgam. After this, a police report was filed against him.
In a follow-up video, Sonu clarified that he felt threatened by a few young people demanding he sing in Kannada. He asked people not to judge everyone by the actions of a few.

Sonu later apologized on Instagram, saying his love for Karnataka is greater than his ego. He wrote, “Sorry, Karnataka. My love for you is bigger than my ego. Love you always.” He emphasized that he respects all languages, including Kannada, and has many Kannada songs prepared for his performances.
Sonu expressed that as a 51-year-old, he believed he had the right to take offense at being threatened about singing in a language that is important to him. Sonu ended by stating that he loves his country and hates anyone trying to create division based on language, caste, or religion.
