On Tuesday, Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha and a Congress leader, visited the family of Navy officer Lt. Vinay Narwal. Lt. Narwal was sadly killed in a terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. On Sunday, Suman Saini, wife of Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, paid her respects to the late Navy officer at a memorial service held by his family in Karnal. After the service, she told the reporters, “Today is a very sad day. The family lost their beloved son. I pray to God to give them strength. The attack on April 22 was terrible, and we all mourn this loss together.”

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced that the government would give ₹50 lakh (5 million) and a job to a family member of Lt. Narwal. He was from Karnal, Haryana, and received a heartfelt farewell from family and friends last month. His father, Rajesh Narwal, and his uncle performed the last rites, surrounded by many people. Rajesh shared that he believes the government will do the right thing for them. He added that their loss is “unbearable and irreplaceable.”

Just before the attack, Lt. Narwal had recently gotten married, and his wedding reception was only a few days before he was killed on April 22 while on leave in Pahalgam with his wife. During the military ceremony, his widow said an emotional goodbye, remembering him as a man of honor who left behind a brave legacy. Sadly, the attack resulted in the deaths of 26 people, as terrorists targeted tourists in Pahalgam.
