Japan Supports India: Strong Actions Post-Pahalgam Terror Attack

On Monday, Japan pledged its full support to India after a terrible terrorist attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 people. India strongly blamed Pakistan for helping these terrorists, who threaten peace in the region. In a meeting between Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and his Japanese counterpart General Nakatani, Singh stated that these attacks disrupt safety and called for everyone to unite against terrorism.

Both leaders condemned terrorism and stressed the importance of global teamwork to fight it. This meeting came at a crucial time, as India is looking at military options to respond to Pakistan’s support of terrorism, particularly affecting Jammu and Kashmir. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given the military full freedom to decide how and when to respond to the April 22 attack.

Since the attack, India has taken several strong actions, including banning goods from Pakistan, stopping Pakistani ships from coming to Indian ports, and closing its airspace to any Pakistani-operated aircraft. India has also downgraded its relations with Pakistan and expelled many of its citizens from India.

Moreover, India is working to highlight the issue of terrorism globally, urging the United Nations Security Council to focus on cross-border terrorism and asking the International Monetary Fund to review loans to Pakistan. The Pahalgam attack has shown the world that Pakistan is causing instability in the region, and India has requested support from the US to address this.

During the meeting, Singh and Nakatani also talked about improving their countries’ relationship and working together for regional peace. They welcomed more defence exercises between India and Japan and discussed partnerships in advanced technologies like automation, artificial intelligence, and even space.
