BJP Hits Back at Kharge Over Kashmir Security Comments

BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad criticized Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge for claiming that Prime Minister Narendra Modi canceled his trip to Jammu and Kashmir because of a security warning days before a recent terrorist attack. Prasad said Kharge’s comments were irresponsible, especially during tense times with Pakistan.

At a public meeting in Ranchi, Kharge stated that he heard that three days before the April 22 attack, an intelligence report warned Modi not to visit Jammu and Kashmir for safety reasons. Kharge questioned why, after receiving this information, Modi didn’t alert the local police and security forces to protect tourists.

Prasad responded by saying that Kharge’s remarks were not helpful. He emphasized that at a time when the country needs unity, Kharge is instead making remarks that could undermine the nation’s security. Prasad suggested that Kharge should urge his party members to speak more responsibly as many of them have made controversial statements.
