Riyan Parag’s Brave 95 Not Enough as RR Falls Short against KKR

Kolkata, India: A remarkable 95 runs from captain Riyan Parag wasn’t enough to help Rajasthan Royals win against Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday at Eden Gardens. Rajasthan was chasing a target of 207 runs. At one point, they were struggling at 71 runs for 5 wickets. However, Riyan Parag and Shimron Hetmyer made an impressive 92-run partnership, and they got help from Jofra Archer and Shubham Dubey. Their efforts brought them close, but they fell just one run short of winning the match.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) now have five wins and five losses, giving them 10 points, which keeps their hopes of winning alive. Rajasthan Royals (RR) are struggling in eighth place with only 6 points from three wins out of twelve matches.

During the match, RR got off to a tough start when Vaibhav Suryavanshi was out after scoring just 4 runs. Kunal Singh Rathore was also out quickly. They were only 8 runs for 2 wickets after 1.5 overs. Captain Riyan Parag and Yashasvi Jaiswal started to attack, hitting big shots. After six overs, RR was 59 runs for 2 wickets and looking strong.

However, Jaiswal was caught out and the wickets started to fall quickly. By the eighth over, RR was down to 71 for 5. Parag and Hetmyer kept the chase alive, with Parag hitting five sixes in one over! He scored 95 runs off just 45 balls with 8 sixes and 6 fours.

In the final over, RR needed 22 runs, and Dubey hit some big shots but couldn’t get the last two runs needed to tie the match. They finished at 205 for 8 in 20 overs.

Before this, KKR had batted well, scoring 206 runs. Andre Russell and young player Angkrish Raghuvanshi helped KKR set a challenging target. Russell scored a fast half-century to boost KKR’s score.

Final Score: KKR 206/4 beat RR 205/8.
