India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is meeting with Japan’s Defence Minister Gen Nakatani on Monday. They will talk about important issues, especially rising tensions between India and Pakistan after a recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam that took 26 lives. They will also discuss China’s military actions in the South China Sea.
The meeting will help both countries share ideas about security and how to work closer together in defense. This is the second time the two ministers are meeting in six months; they first met in November at an international defense meeting. Back then, they talked about a new agreement that would allow their armies to share supplies and use each other’s bases for repairs.
India and Japan have been friends for a long time, and their partnership became even stronger in 2014 when they agreed to work closely together on security and defense issues. As part of this meeting, they will look at what’s happening in the East and South China Seas, where China has been showing its military strength.
In recent years, India and Japan have been working together more and more because they share similar views on peace and security in the Indo-Pacific region.
