Pakistan Threatens India Over Indus River Tensions

In a recent warning to India, Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said that if India builds anything on the Indus River, Pakistan will respond strongly. He views this as an act of “Indian aggression.” His comments came after news of a terror attack in Pahalgam, India, which killed 26 people.

Asif made it clear in a TV interview that if India tries to create any structure on the river, it would lead to serious consequences. He stated, “If they build anything, we will destroy it.” He emphasized that aggression can take many forms, not just military attacks, and diverting water could lead to serious issues like hunger.

For now, Asif said Pakistan will use legal channels to address the issue through the Indus Waters Treaty, a long-standing agreement on water sharing between the two countries. He remarked that India would find it difficult to break this treaty and that Pakistan is prepared to discuss it with relevant parties.

In previous statements, Asif warned that India’s actions could lead to a full-blown war between the two countries, both of which have nuclear weapons. He mentioned that Pakistan is ready for any situation and will respond appropriately to India’s actions.

Amid rising tensions, India also blocked Khawaja Asif’s account on social media, showing how serious the situation has become. There are also claims from Pakistan that India might launch a military strike soon, citing intelligence reports. Despite the threats, Pakistan insists it is a victim of terrorism and does not support violent acts.
