In Prayagraj, the Allahabad High Court has rejected a request to move a case because there was not enough proof to support the claims made against a judge. The court also decided to charge the person making the request ₹5,000. Judge J J Munir explained that lately, people have been becoming more aggressive towards the courts, partly because judges are not using their power to punish those who disrespect the court. He said it is important to respect people’s right to speak, but that shouldn’t lead to making false and serious claims against judges.
In the case, the petitioner wanted to move a complaint from one court to another, saying that the judge was unfair and that there were unnecessary delays. However, during the hearing, the high court found these claims to be completely false and without any proof. The judge clarified that just because a decision might be wrong, it doesn’t mean the judge is biased. Also, delays in handling cases do not mean that a judge is being unfair. The court emphasized that making such serious accusations requires strong evidence.
