Waltz Ousted as NSA, Nominated as UN Ambassador Amid Controversy

Mike Waltz, the former National Security Advisor (NSA), and his deputy Alex Wong were let go after a controversy known as the “Signal Gate.” In this issue, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has also come under fire for sharing secret details about U.S. plans in Yemen with his wife and lawyer via a Signal chat.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries called for President Trump to fire Hegseth but did not ask the same of Waltz. Another Democrat, Ilhan Omar, even suggested impeaching Hegseth and other security leaders. Jeffries believes that more people will be removed from their positions following Waltz’s ouster. He hopes Hegseth will be next, urging Trump to prioritize national security.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer also stated that Hegseth should be fired. However, an insider revealed that Hegseth has more support from the White House than Waltz, making it unlikely he will be removed anytime soon. The insider noted that this support might help Hegseth keep his job.

Meanwhile, shortly after the news of his dismissal, President Trump nominated Waltz to be the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. Trump praised Waltz for his service and commitment to U.S. interests. In the meantime, Secretary of State Marco Rubio will temporarily take over Waltz’s old position as National Security Advisor.
