Singer Ed Sheeran recently wrapped up a fun tour in India that was full of exciting adventures! From riding in auto rickshaws to jamming with famous musician AR Rahman, and even taking a scooter ride with popular singer Arijit Singh, Ed’s trip was unforgettable.
He has incorporated some of these experiences into his new album called “Play,” where he sings in Punjabi for the first time. Ed also shared that he got a tattoo in Punjabi to show how much he loves India and its culture.
On Friday, Ed teased his upcoming album on Instagram, singing a catchy line that means “the stars shine brightly” in Punjabi! He also released a new song called “Old Phone.” The announcement video features him playing Indian instruments like the tabla and sitar, giving us a glimpse of his adventures in India. Ed even shared that he finished his album while he was in Goa!
In his Instagram post, Ed talked about how this album was created during a tough time in his life. He wanted to make music that is joyful and colorful, as well as explore different cultures around the world. Ed said, “I made this record all over the world, finished it in Goa, India, and had some of the most fun creative days of my life.”
He wants the album’s promotion to be light-hearted and fun, doing things like hosting folk jam sessions and playing music on open-top buses while wearing pink cowboy hats. Ed added, “The older I get, the more I want to enjoy and cherish the crazy moments.”
If you want to hear his new music, you can pre-order “Play” now! He also encouraged everyone to listen to “Old Phone,” which is out today.
Ed’s tour in India included concerts in Pune, Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Shillong.
