Pakistani citizens are leaving India after the Indian government canceled their visas. This happened after a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, where 26 Indian tourists lost their lives. Many Pakistani people returning through the Attari border are asking for help, saying they shouldn’t be punished because of the attack.
One woman named Mufzala, who is from Muzaffarabad, spoke out about her situation. She has lived in Baramulla for six years and has two young kids who were born in India. Mufzala explained that they have legal long-term visas and have applied numerous times to renew them. Suddenly, they were told to leave the country. She emphasizes that while the attack was terrible and innocent lives were lost, she and her family shouldn’t have to suffer because of someone else’s actions.
Another man shared how he entered India on a 45-day visa but was told to leave after just a week. He came to visit family but felt it was unfair to be sent back due to the Pahalgam incident.
The attack in Pahalgam was one of the worst since the 2019 Pulwama attack, which had devastating effects and took the lives of 40 soldiers from the Central Reserve Police Force.
