Odisha Announces ₹9,200 Crore for Healthcare Upgrades Across Major Hospitals

Bhubaneswar – The government of Odisha has made an exciting announcement to upgrade healthcare in the state by investing nearly ₹9,200 crore. During a meeting led by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, with Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling present, it was decided to transform four important medical institutions.

                                                                          Here’s how the money will be spent:

                                                                                 VIMSAR Medical College and Hospital in Burla: This hospital will get ₹1,594 crore to increase its bed capacity from 1,485 to 2,861 beds.

                                                                                                                                                                        MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur: Receiving ₹1,014.13 crore, this hospital will expand its beds from 1,583 to 2,033.

                                                                                                                                                                                   Rourkela Government Hospital: With ₹627.16 crore, the number of beds here will rise from 437 to 763.

                                                                          Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar: A big investment of ₹5,958 crore is planned, boosting bed strength from 750 to 2,582.

                                                                                           In addition to these projects, the Chief Minister also looked at improvements being made to Cuttack’s SCB Medical College and Acharya Harihar Cancer Institute.

                                                                               SCB Medical College in Cuttack: Already in progress, this redevelopment is costing ₹4,474.49 crore and will increase its beds to 3,796 by June 2026.

                                                                                   Acharya Harihar Cancer Institute: This first phase of redevelopment costs ₹895.89 crore and will have 1,127 beds once finished.

                                                                               These upgrades aim to provide better healthcare services for the people of Odisha!
