Imran Khan Urges India for Responsibility After Pahalgam Attack

Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, who is currently in jail, called the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, India, “deeply disturbing and tragic.” He shared his condolences for the victims and their families via a social media post.

Khan reminded India that when a similar attack happened in Pulwama in 2019, Pakistan offered to help investigate, but India didn’t provide concrete proof of who was responsible. He believes this is happening again and criticized the Indian government for blaming Pakistan without looking into the facts.

He urged India, which has a population of 1.5 billion, to act responsibly, especially in a region that is a “nuclear flashpoint.” Khan stated that Pakistan wants peace but has the capability to respond strongly to any provocation from India. He reminded everyone that he has always supported the right of Kashmiris to decide their future, as acknowledged by United Nations resolutions.

Khan also mentioned that India’s actions and ideology pose a serious threat, not just to the region but to the world. He pointed out that Indian oppression in Kashmir since the removal of Article 370 has made the people there more determined to seek freedom.

Despite political divisions in Pakistan, Khan claims that the threat from Modi’s government has united the Pakistani people against Indian hostility. He criticized other political leaders like Nawaz Sharif and Asif Zardari for prioritizing their own interests over national unity.

Recently, a Pakistani official claimed they have intelligence suggesting that India might be preparing for a military strike in response to the Pahalgam attack. The Indian Prime Minister has reportedly given the military full freedom to respond.

Relations between India and Pakistan have worsened following the attack that resulted in the deaths of 26 people.
