World Bank Invests $108 Million for Women’s Empowerment in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

The World Bank is giving an extra $108 million to improve the lives of women and girls in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a province in northwest Pakistan. This money will help them get important services and job opportunities.

There are two major projects that will receive this funding:

The Pakhtunkhwa Integrated Tourism Development (KITE) project, which is worth $30 million.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Rural Accessibility Project (KPRAP), valued at $78 million.

This funding aims to make sure that women and girls can access schools, hospitals, and job markets, while also protecting the province from natural disasters.

The KPRAP will focus on building safe roads that can withstand climate changes. By upgrading old roads, more people will be able to reach schools and health facilities. Muhammad Bilal Paracha, the project leader, said, “This project is very important for improving lives, especially for women and girls.”

The KITE project will help grow the tourism industry by fixing two key roads that lead to beautiful tourist spots in the area. Paracha added, “This extra funding shows that the World Bank is committed to helping Pakistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa develop.”
