The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) criticized a senior politician from the Maharashtra Congress, Vijay Wadettiwar, for his insensitive comments about the recent Pahalgam terror attack. Wadettiwar questioned the government’s statement that the attackers asked victims about their religion before harming them, saying, “Do terrorists really do that?”
He also insisted that terrorism has no religion and urged the government to take action against those responsible. State BJP president, Chandrashekhar Bawankule, responded to Wadettiwar’s comments by calling them “shameless.” He said that such statements show a lack of sensitivity towards the families of the 26 victims who were killed in the attack while they were visiting Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
Bawankule criticized Wadettiwar for trying to defend terrorists and accused Congress leaders of being insensitive to the feelings of the people. He emphasized that the whole nation stands with Prime Minister Modi in these tough times. Maharashtra’s Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, also condemned Wadettiwar’s remarks, saying they hurt the families of the victims even more.
On April 22, terrorists attacked tourists in Pahalgam, resulting in tragedy for many families.
