Supreme Court Supports High Court Ruling in Krishna Janmabhoomi Case

On Monday, the Supreme Court said that a decision made by the Allahabad High Court about a legal case involving Krishna Janmabhoomi and Shahi Idgah is mostly correct. A group of judges, led by Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna, discussed this while looking at an appeal from the Muslim side of the issue.

The Hindu side wanted to change their case to include the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) as a party. They claimed that the building in question is a protected monument and that a law designed to protect places of worship does not apply to it. Therefore, they argued that it shouldn’t be used as a mosque. The high court agreed on March 5.

Because of this, the Muslim side is now appealing this decision to the Supreme Court. On April 4, the Supreme Court asked the Hindu side to explain their reasons for the appeal. When the case was discussed again on Monday, the Supreme Court stated that the Muslim side was mistaken and that the high court did the right thing by allowing the addition of the ASI in the case.
