The Royal Challengers Bengaluru showed they are serious contenders in the IPL 2025 season with a fantastic win over the Delhi Capitals, pushing them to the top of the leaderboard. In a match held in New Delhi, RCB showcased amazing bowling skills and great batting, especially from Krunal Pandya and the legendary Virat Kohli.
RCB faced a tough start, finding themselves at 26 runs with 3 wickets down after their captain, Rajat Patidar, was run out. But Kohli and Krunal then teamed up for an incredible partnership of 119 runs, leading the team to chase down the target of 163 runs. Rajat was unfortunate to be out for 6 runs due to a brilliant direct throw by Karun Nair, making for some light-hearted fun later on from Jitesh Sharma, who poked fun at his captain’s score.
After the match, RCB’s coach Andy Flower asked Jitesh to share his thoughts in the dressing room. When he got to Rajat, Jitesh exclaimed, “Rajat — nothing!” which caused everyone to laugh. The friendly banter didn’t stop there. Later, Patidar jokingly pointed out that Jitesh was referencing his performance on the field—“What did he pull off in the batting?” Jitesh fired back with a smile, pointing out that Rajat didn’t score runs.
Patidar then demonstrated good spirit by pointing out the logo of the smartphone brand “Nothing,” which is a sponsor for RCB, saying, “Is this what you are talking about? It’s alright because we won the match today.”
“This is just how we are with each other,” said Patidar, showing it was all good humor between teammates and friends. While Patidar didn’t score many runs and Jitesh didn’t bat, the partnership of Krunal and Kohli was key to their victory. Jitesh praised Jacob Bethell’s amazing six off Mitchell Starc on his IPL debut as the ‘shot of the day’ and gave credit to Tim David for his strong performance at the end of the innings.
Next up for RCB is a big rivalry match at home against the struggling Chennai Super Kings, where they aim to keep their winning streak alive and secure a top-two finish.
