Kaneria Slams Afridi Over Controversial Comments After Kashmir Terror Attack

Former Pakistani cricket star Danish Kaneria criticized Shahid Afridi for his comments after a terrible terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, which killed 26 tourists. Kaneria accused Afridi of having extremist views.

In a video that went viral, Afridi suggested there were security failures during the attack, saying there were no soldiers present when the attack happened. He also made strange claims, alleging that India was behind the attack and blamed Pakistan for it. Afridi said, “The terrorists attacked for an hour, and not one Indian soldier showed up. But then they blamed Pakistan. India creates terrorism, harms its own people, and then points fingers at us.”

Afridi went on to mention that he faced threats before traveling to India for the 2016 T20 World Cup, where he wasn’t sure if the trip would happen. He commented on sports diplomacy, saying India sends its kabaddi team to Pakistan but not its cricket team.

In response, Kaneria talked about his experiences with Afridi, saying that Afridi tried to convince him to convert to Islam and refused to share meals with him, which he found disrespectful. Kaneria believes Afridi shouldn’t be allowed to speak on Indian television or in India due to his views.

The attack in Pahalgam has increased tension between India and Pakistan. Recently, the Indian government banned several Pakistan-based YouTube channels, including some of popular former cricketers like Shoaib Akhtar and Basit Ali.
