Kolkata – The wife of BSF soldier Purnam Sahu, who was taken by the Pakistan Rangers after accidentally crossing the border, is determined to find her husband. Rajani, who is pregnant, along with her son and three relatives, will fly to Chandigarh on Monday and then continue to Ferozepur, a town close to the India-Pakistan border.
Purnam Sahu, stationed with the 182nd battalion of the BSF, was escorting farmers when he needed a break and unknowingly walked into Pakistani land. BSF officials have held talks with their Pakistani counterparts to try and get him back, but the family hasn’t heard any updates yet.
“I’m very worried since hearing the news. It’s been five days, and there’s still no word about him,” Rajani told PTI. Initially, she planned to take a train to Ferozepur but couldn’t get a confirmed ticket. If she cannot get the answers she needs, she is ready to go to Delhi to talk to government officials.
Purnam’s parents, who live in West Bengal, are also concerned and are asking the central government for help to bring their son back. “I can’t explain how worried I am. I ask the BSF to bring my son home,” said Purnam’s mother.
