V Vijayendra Prasad is a famous screenwriter who created popular films like Baahubali, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, and RRR. He believes that telling personal stories makes them more relatable to everyone, no matter where they’re from. He thinks India has a wealth of amazing stories that filmmakers can use to showcase Indian culture around the world.
Prasad and his son, director SS Rajamouli, plan to make films that proudly reflect Indian culture. Prasad states, “You must tell the truth with honesty. We didn’t change our stories to fit in; our culture is beautiful as it is.” He believes that movies can help people appreciate Indian culture, just as classics like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and Gandhi did.
Prasad also shared a memorable conversation with Rajamouli about India being “rich in stories” like the Mahabharata and Ramayana. This is our heritage, and he wants to tell these stories through films.
Baahubali changed Indian cinema ten years ago, becoming a huge hit that everyone talked about. It featured a suspenseful story that left fans wondering why Kattappa, a loyal servant, killed Baahubali. Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi wanted to know the answer!
After Baahubali, Prasad and Rajamouli made RRR, a movie based on Indian heroes fighting for freedom. RRR was a big success both in India and in Hollywood, gaining praise from famous director James Cameron. The song “Naatu Naatu” from RRR even won an Oscar!
Prasad is excited about working with Bollywood star Salman Khan on a sequel to Bajrangi Bhaijaan, and he discussed making a Mahabharata film with Aamir Khan. He believes the story would be fantastic on screen.
Prasad remembers meeting Prime Minister Modi and was impressed by his vision to make India shine. Coming up next, he has a new film with Mahesh Babu that involves adventure and Indian mysticism, plus he is writing a Hindi remake of Magadheera.
