Mumbai Indians’ player Suryakumar Yadav is now the proud owner of the Orange Cap after hitting 54 runs from just 28 balls in an IPL 2025 game against Lucknow Super Giants at Wankhede Stadium on Sunday. His exciting innings included four fours and four sixes.
During the game, Suryakumar shared that he felt glad when Hardik Pandya lost the toss and Mumbai was asked to bat first. Thanks to Suryakumar’s performance, the team scored a total of 215 runs for seven wickets in their 20 overs. Ryan Rickelton also played well, scoring 58 runs from 32 balls as they attacked the LSG bowlers fiercely.
“I was really happy when we lost the toss. It’s so hot out there, and it’s tough to play,” Suryakumar said. “But scoring over 200 runs is great for us as batters.”
In his innings, Suryakumar also reached over 4000 runs in the IPL, becoming the third fastest player to do so after Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers. Speaking about this achievement, he said, “I want to keep doing well. I’m enjoying playing right now.”
Suryakumar believes that scoring 215 is a good total on this Wankhede pitch, but he expects the LSG batsmen to attack hard. “It’s a good score, but their batting lineup is strong. I’m excited to see how it goes.”
For Lucknow Super Giants, Mayank Yadav and Avesh Khan took two wickets each. So far this IPL season, Suryakumar has made 427 runs with an amazing strike rate of 169.44. In the 10 matches he has played, he hasn’t scored less than 25 runs, showing how consistent he is.
“I’m proud to wear this cap again after a long time. It’s special, and I hope to keep it going,” he added. “My routines and processes are working well, and I feel great about it!”
