Pakistan’s Railway Minister, Hanif Abbasi, is stirring up tensions with India after a recent violent attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir. In a viral video, he warned India to prepare for war if it stops Pakistan from getting water from the Indus River. He said, “If they stop the water, they should be ready for war. We have weapons that are not just for show; we have them ready for use.”
This warning comes after another Pakistani leader, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, claimed that if India cuts off their water supply, “blood will flow in rivers.” He insisted that the Indus River belongs to Pakistan and any move to stop the water would lead to serious consequences.
The border between India and Pakistan has become tense after a horrific attack in Pahalgam, where 26 people, mostly tourists, were killed by terrorists. This attack is one of the deadliest in recent years. Following this, India downgraded its diplomatic ties with Pakistan, expelled military officials, and even suspended the Indus Water Treaty, which has regulated water sharing for over 60 years.
In response, Pakistan has threatened to stop following agreements with India and has taken actions like closing trade and airspace to Indian airlines. The situation remains very serious with both sides making strong statements.
