On Saturday, Uttarakhand’s Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan visited Kedarnath Dham to check on the preparations for the upcoming Chardham Yatra, a pilgrimage that many people attend. He started by looking at the rebuilding work happening at Kedarnath and gave advice to the officials in charge.
During his visit, he also checked out the Bailey Bridge over the Mandakini and Saraswati rivers. This bridge is now finished and will help visitors travel more easily. He inspected rain shelters along Aastha Path, where he suggested that LED signs should show where things like toilets and medical help are located.
The Chief Secretary stressed the importance of providing hot water to people waiting in line, ensuring they stay comfortable during the chilly weather. He also looked at the cleanliness from the temple area to Aastha Path, which is by the Saraswati River, and checked the condition of restrooms.
He instructed the Garhwal Mandal Development Corporation (GMVN) officials to quickly fix and maintain cottages along the path for visitors. All arrangements must be done smoothly so that no traveler faces problems during their journey.
While inspecting Rudra Point and Ghoda Padao, he also looked into managing crowds, providing drinking water, medical help, and cleanliness. District Magistrate Saurabh Gaharwar assured him that all groups involved are working together well to complete arrangements on time. They are ready with the walking paths, places to stay, cleanliness, health services, drinking water, electricity, and communication facilities.
Superintendent of Police Akshay Prahlad Konde stated that security measures are in place along the travel routes. They have assigned police officers to monitor the routes consistently. A traffic plan has also been created to avoid congestion, and emergency teams are ready for any unexpected situations during the Yatra.
