With Sanju Samson out due to an injury, Vaibhav Suryavanshi took the spotlight during a recent match. The 14-year-old cricketer stepped in as the Impact Sub for Rajasthan Royals (RR) alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal to chase down a big total against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Vaibhav is already making waves with his exciting batting style and bold shots.
During the game, former cricketer Suresh Raina was amazed by Suryavanshi’s fearless attitude. Raina expressed his admiration on Star Sports, even singing a fun Bollywood song about young talent. He said, “At just 14, he shows great skill and confidence. He’s ready to play at this level without fear.”
RR was chasing a target of 206 runs but ended up getting 195 runs. Suryavanshi contributed with 16 runs from 12 balls, hitting two sixes. In his short IPL experience, he has scored a total of 50 runs in two matches, maintaining an impressive strike rate of 156.25.
Vaibhav was bought by RR for ₹1.1 crore, making him the youngest player ever to get an IPL contract. He also holds the record for being the youngest IPL debutant in history. Last year, he made headlines by debuting in the Ranji Trophy at 12 years old, becoming the second-youngest player from Bihar to do so.
Recently, he represented India at the 2024 ACC U-19 Asia Cup, scoring 76 runs against UAE and 67 runs against Sri Lanka in the semi-finals. With such talent at a young age, the cricket world is excited to see what he does next!
