Delhi DOE’s New Heat Safety Guidelines for Schools Explained

As temperatures rise, the Delhi Department of Education (DOE) has made new rules for all schools, both government and private. These rules say schools should not hold morning assemblies or any outdoor activities. Instead, they must teach students about the dangers of heat-related illnesses.

The guidelines also stress the need to provide clean drinking water and ensure that fire extinguishers are working in school hallways. Students are encouraged to wear hats or cover their heads when going outside. To keep everyone hydrated, schools should allow water breaks throughout the day.

The circular states that if a student shows signs of heat illness, they must get help right away. First aid kits should include Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS), and serious cases should be taken to the nearest hospital.
