Neeraj Chopra is organizing the NC Classic Javelin event on May 24. Many fans were excited to see Arshad Nadeem, the gold medal winner from the Paris Olympics. However, he recently announced that he will not attend the event because it conflicts with his training for the Asian Athletics Championship, which happens from May 27 to 31. Nadeem has thanked Neeraj for the invitation but is focused on preparing for the championship.
Additionally, Nadeem’s decision comes after a recent troubling incident in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. He explained, “The NC Classic is on May 24, but I have to leave for South Korea on May 22 for the Asian Championship.”
Earlier, Neeraj mentioned that he had invited Arshad and was waiting for confirmation from him after talking to his coach. Nadeem is an Olympic champion and also won at the Commonwealth Games. His throw of 92.97 meters at the Olympics is a record!
In the NC Classic, other famous javelin throwers like Anderson Peters, a two-time world champion from Grenada, and Thomas Rohler, who won gold at the 2016 Olympics, will be participating as well.
This event has been given a high status by World Athletics and will now be held in Bengaluru instead of Panchkula. Neeraj explained that the lighting in Panchkula wasn’t good enough for an international broadcast, which needs a brightness level called “600 lux.” Moving to Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru will provide better lighting for the event, and it’s expected to have nice evening weather for the athletes and fans.
