Some social media accounts supporting the pro-Kashmir movement have made claims about the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam. They said that the people who were hurt weren’t just regular citizens; they suggested that some were tied to security and intelligence groups like the Intelligence Bureau (IB). However, officials have disputed these claims and said they are wrong.
Flyers from a group called ‘Kashmir Resistance’ appeared on social media, suggesting that those who died in the attack included intelligence officers from the IB and RAW. But sources confirmed to ANI that only one IB officer, who was on leave with his family, was killed. They emphasized that only regular civilians were hurt.
The spread of unverified rumors on some social media platforms and news channels, saying multiple IB officers were harmed, has been called incorrect. A Pakistan-backed terrorist group is trying to make it look like they aimed at targets who weren’t regular people. But the truth is that civilians were the focus of the attack.
The victims’ coffins were flown to Srinagar airport, and several government representatives came to help return the victims and tourists to their homes. After the shocking attack that took innocent lives, Union Home Minister Amit Shah met with the victims’ families outside the Police Control Room in Srinagar. He also paid his respects with a wreath-laying ceremony, honoring those who lost their lives.
This attack has been one of the most significant since the government ended special status for Jammu and Kashmir in 2019. However, the official count of those who died in Pahalgam still has not been confirmed.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation has added four new flights to Delhi and Mumbai to help transport people based on demand and is working with airlines to provide more options.
Many local organizations have called for a strike in Jammu to protest against the attack. Security forces are actively searching for the terrorists responsible for the attack, and security has been heightened in the area, which is usually filled with tourists. Pictures show the streets empty following the tragedy.
