26 Killed in Pahalgam Terror Attack: Leaders Unite for Justice

On Wednesday, Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition and Congress MP, shared that he talked to Union Home Minister Amit Shah about the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. This attack, which happened on Tuesday, sadly led to the deaths of at least 26 people, including five tourists from Maharashtra.

Gandhi also reached out to Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and state Congress president Tariq Karra to discuss this terrible situation. He expressed his support for the victims’ families on social media, saying, “The families of victims deserve justice and our fullest support.”

In response to the attack, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman cut short their trips abroad to focus on the situation. Modi returned from Saudi Arabia, and Sitharaman returned from the US and Peru.

Many political parties in Jammu and Kashmir joined together for a shutdown on Wednesday to protest and show solidarity with the victims’ families. People across the region, including Baramulla, Srinagar, and Kupwara, held candlelight marches to honor those affected by the attack.

The attack took place in a beautiful meadow area called Baisaran, where tourists were visiting. The group responsible for this attack is believed to be called The Resistance Front (TRF), which is linked to another terrorist group from Pakistan. Authorities think the attackers came from the Kishtwar region and used the mountains to reach the area without being seen.

Home Minister Amit Shah held a security meeting in Srinagar to discuss how to improve safety in the region. Security forces are searching for the attackers, and police in Delhi are on high alert to prevent any further attacks.
