Kerala Mom Achieves 45th Rank in UPSC Just 17 Days After Giving Birth

Malavika G Nair, a determined mom from Kerala, made it to the top 50 in the Civil Services Examination 2024. She achieved this incredible feat just 17 days after giving birth! Malavika shared her happiness with everyone after the results were announced by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). She got the 45th rank and is already an Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer.

Malavika explained that the time leading up to the exam was really tough. “It was hard work. I was pregnant when I took the first part of the exam last year. My baby boy was born on September 3, and I took the main exam on September 20. I couldn’t have done it without my family’s support,” she said. Her past experiences in exams also helped her a lot.

Currently, Malavika is on leave to take care of her baby. She has tried for the UPSC twice before and got the 172nd rank in 2022, which allowed her to work as an IRS officer. Her husband, Nandagopan M, is an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer trainee from the 2023 batch and helps out at a police station in Malappuram district.

“I’m so proud of her. Preparing for the exam while pregnant was a huge effort. She truly deserves this success,” he said.
