HUL Acquires Majority Stake in Minimalist for ₹2,706.44 Crore!

Hindustan Unilever (HUL) is making headlines with its big news! The company has just wrapped up buying a 90.5% share of Uprising Science, the company behind the popular skincare brand Minimalist, for ₹2,706.44 crore. This deal was confirmed in a message to the stock exchange.

HUL achieved this purchase through a mix of new investment and buying existing shares. They had asked for permission from India’s Competition Commission to go ahead with this deal back in January 2025. HUL plans to eventually buy the remaining 9.5% of Uprising Science in about two years.

Uprising Science, based in Jaipur, makes and sells various beauty and personal care products, including items for babies and hair under the name ‘Minimalist’. While both companies sell similar products, HUL believes this won’t change competition much in the market. They have focused on important areas for the deal, which include skincare and hair care products in India.

For HUL investors, the average target price for HUL shares is currently ₹2,616, which suggests an 11% rise from the existing prices. Based on the views of 38 analysts, the recommendation for HUL shares is a solid ‘Buy’.

In the last trading session, HUL shares dropped by 1% to close at ₹2,350. Over the last six months, the stock has gone down by 13%, and it has also fallen 6% in the past two years. HUL’s total market value is now ₹5,52,153 crore.
