Former Intelligence Chief Arrested for Actor’s Harassment Case

In Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh, Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha announced that former intelligence chief PSR Anjaneyulu has been arrested. This is related to a case involving actor Kadambari Jethwani from Mumbai, who said she was harassed. Anjaneyulu is one of three police officers suspended for allegedly arresting and bothering Jethwani without doing a proper investigation during the previous YSRCP government. The other two suspended officers are Vishal Gunni and Kanthi Rana Tata.

According to Anitha, there are seven people accused in Jethwani’s case, and YSRCP leader Kukkala Vidyasagar has already been arrested. The Home Minister explained that they are being careful and only taking action when they have enough evidence. She emphasized that anyone who makes mistakes must face consequences, regardless of their past.

Anitha raised questions about why some officials are facing problems now due to mistakes made when the YSRCP was in power, while officials under the TDP government didn’t. She mentioned the past case of a senior IAS officer, Yerra Srilakshmi, who was arrested for corruption to highlight this issue.

Jethwani sought help from the police and the government, which led to an investigation uncovering that some IPS officers were involved in her harassment, resulting in their suspensions. News about Anjaneyulu’s arrest became widely shared after it happened. The TDP party criticized Anjaneyulu for following orders under the previous government to harass Jethwani but mentioned that the current government is trying to do justice.

Last year, Anjaneyulu, former Vijayawada Police Commissioner Tata, and Gunni, who was also involved, were suspended after being found guilty of harassing the model.
