Rohit Sharma’s Historic Win and Emotional Honor at Wankhede Stadium

Rohit Sharma played an incredible game for the Mumbai Indians, helping them win by nine wickets against the Chennai Super Kings. He was named Player of the Match for his amazing score of 76 runs off just 45 balls.

During the ceremony, Rohit shared his excitement about a special honor he will receive: Level 3 of the Divecha Pavilion at Wankhede Stadium will be named after him. “It’s a huge honor,” he said. “As a kid, I watched games here and couldn’t enter the stadium at times. To have such an honor now, after playing all my cricket here, is very emotional for me. I honestly don’t know how I will feel when it happens.”

Rohit is regarded by many as one of the best openers in cricket, especially in limited-overs formats. Recently, he led the Indian team to victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup and the 2025 Champions Trophy. He also guides the Mumbai Indians to five championship titles.

In his career, Rohit has scored 11,168 runs in 273 One Day Internationals (ODIs) with an average of 48.76 and a strike rate of 92.80, including 32 centuries and 58 half-centuries. He uniquely holds the record for scoring three double-centuries and has the highest single innings score in an ODI history: 264 runs off 173 balls against Sri Lanka in 2014.

Moreover, he is India’s top run scorer in T20 matches with 4,231 runs in 158 games, boasting a strike rate of 140.89 and an average of 32.05, along with four centuries, the most for India. Rohit is also the captain of the Test team, where he has scored 4,301 runs in 67 matches at an average of 40.57, with 12 centuries and 18 half-centuries.
