On March 16, famous music composer A.R. Rahman was taken to the hospital in Chennai because he was dehydrated. He had to go through some tests, including an ECG. In a chat with India Today, Rahman explained what happened to him and talked about his recent separation from his wife, Saira Banu, which has been a big topic online.

Talking about his health, Rahman said, “I was just having some fun and decided to fast and eat only vegetarian food. This led to a gastric attack that made me go to the hospital. I didn’t expect people to find out so quickly, and it was nice to get so many kind messages from everyone.”

Rahman also mentioned how his personal life has captured people’s attention. He said, “It’s a bit humanizing. Sometimes you may not feel connected to someone who seems perfect. I’ve gone through many ups and downs, and everyone has their special qualities — they’re superheroes in their own homes. I feel like my fans turned me into a superhero, which is why I named my upcoming tour ‘Wonderment.’ It’s amazing to receive so much love and support.”
Last November, Saira Banu announced that she was separating from Rahman after 29 years of marriage. She said they still love each other, but they have faced many challenges that they cannot overcome right now.
Recently, A.R. Rahman created music for the film Chhaava, starring Vicky Kaushal, which has become a huge success, bringing in over ₹800 crore at the box office. The songs, like “Jaane Tu” and “Aaya Re Toofan,” have also been massive hits. Rahman is getting ready to tour 18 cities in the USA for his ‘Wonderment’ tour. He will start his tour in Mumbai, performing at DY Patil Stadium on May 3 during the WAVES Summit, and will be joined by dancer Shiamak Davar.
