Nitin Gadkari Discusses Delhi’s Terrible Traffic and Urgent Solutions

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, is speaking out about the horrible traffic situation in Delhi. He described the congestion as “Maha bayankar,” which means “very terrible.” Gadkari shared his own experience, saying, “I used to spend 1.5 hours stuck in traffic at Dhaula Kuan every day. That made me waste four years just trying to fix it.”

He pointed out that many people in Delhi own several cars, which is causing more problems. “In Delhi, a family of four often has eight cars, and that number is just getting bigger,” he said. Gadkari criticized the lack of proper planning, asking, “Why do we build big houses without enough parking spaces? Are roads meant for parking cars?”

He also warned that simply building more roads or flyovers won’t solve the problem. He gave an example from Mumbai, where he built many flyovers, but by the time they were done, there were too many people for the roads to handle.
