On Sunday, cricket star Virat Kohli played a fantastic game, hitting his 100th half-century in T20 cricket. He helped his team, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, defeat Rajasthan Royals by nine wickets.
In the match, England’s Phil Salt played a great innings, scoring 65 runs off just 33 balls. Kohli then took over, finishing with 62 runs, and this was his third half-century of the season. With this performance, he matched David Warner, who has 108 half-centuries in T20 cricket. Kohli now stands at 100 half-centuries in 401 matches, while Pakistan’s Babar Azam is behind him with 90.
The chase started strong with Salt hitting boundaries off Jofra Archer in the opening over. He quickly reached his fifty in just 28 balls and formed a partnership of 92 runs with Kohli. After Salt got out, Kohli teamed up with Devdutt Padikkal, who scored 40 runs. Together, they guided the team to victory with 15 balls to spare. This win marked Bengaluru’s fourth victory in six matches, moving them into the top four in the league.
For Rajasthan, opener Yashasvi Jaiswal scored the most runs, with 75 as they batted first and reached a total of 173-4. Although they started slow, Jaiswal hit regular boundaries. He added 49 runs with Sanju Samson and another 56 runs with Riyan Parag, who scored 30 runs. Bengaluru’s spinner Krunal Pandya helped remove Samson for 15 runs, and later, Josh Hazlewood sent Jaiswal back to the pavilion in the 16th over.
Dhruv Jurel stepped up for Rajasthan, scoring 35 runs not out, helping his team finish strong. However, it wasn’t enough, and Rajasthan faced their fourth defeat in six matches.
