Tahawwur Rana, who is linked to the Mumbai terror attacks, is expected to be sent back to India from the U.S. soon, according to sources. An Indian team is already in the U.S. to finish the required paperwork for his extradition.
Rana, 64 years old, is currently in a detention center in Los Angeles. His last attempt to avoid extradition failed when the U.S. Supreme Court rejected his application. This decision brings him closer to facing charges in India for his role in the Mumbai attacks, which resulted in the deaths of 166 people, including six Americans.
Recently, Rana applied to the Supreme Court to stop his extradition, claiming he could be tortured if sent back to India. He argued that because of his health issues—like heart problems and Parkinson’s disease—being extradited could be life-threatening for him.
Rana has connections to David Coleman Headley, one of the main planners of the Mumbai attacks. In a previous press conference, former President Donald Trump mentioned that the U.S. approved Rana’s extradition to India.
The extradition process continues, and it looks likely that Rana will soon be on his way to India to face justice for his actions
