Heartbreaking Finale of 1923 Season 2: What Happened to Spencer and Alex?

The final episode of 1923 Season 2 aired on Sunday, leaving many fans upset about what happened to the main characters, Spencer Dutton (played by Brandon Sklenar) and Alexandra “Alex” (played by Julia Schlaepfer). In the heart-wrenching ending, Spencer and Alex finally came together after being apart for a year. Alex had a baby boy, but sadly, she was in bad shape and died after giving birth. This meant Spencer lost his wife.

At the end of the show, Spencer appeared next to Alex’s grave, showing how much he loved her. A voiceover explained that he never married again after her death. The last scene showed Spencer and Alex beautifully dancing together in a ballroom, frozen in time, hinting that he passed away next to her grave.

Brandon Sklenar shared his thoughts about this emotional scene with Screenrant. He said it was hard for him to control his feelings while filming. Spencer struggles with the idea of death but knows it’s real. He feels a deep love for Alex and regrets not being able to show her how much she meant to him. Living with that pain is truly heartbreaking.

As for Season 3 of 1923, there has been no official announcement yet. The show features stars like Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren. There is another Yellowstone spin-off called 1944 in the works, but it’s not confirmed if Spencer Dutton will be part of that story.
